Hudson Valley Farm Wedding
Corinne & Reagan live and work at their home, which is a sprawling farm in New York’s Hudson Valley. After getting engaged on the property they couldn’t imagine being married anywhere else, and invested in creating the wedding experience of their dream in their backyard. On an unseasonably warm October day we arrived to a calm and collected couple getting ready in their home and Reagan at the neighbor’s house. They spent the week tirelessly setting up their wedding on the farm. I was there prior for their engagement session in the spring and could not wait for a beautiful golden sunset on the farm among the fall foliage.
I was not led to disappointment. The farm looked truly stunning in the reds and oranges of the northeastern forest. The couple had a first look in an apple orchard followed by their private vows. It wasn’t hard to convince Corinne & Reagan as to why a first look was a good idea. They were settled on the idea when we first met. They wanted to share an intimate moment with their vows, and create space for themselves on such a busy day surrounded by loved ones. In addition they loved that they could have time to actually enjoy their cocktail hour after the ceremony while getting wedding party and family portraits done prior to the start of the ceremony. First looks are both emotional and practical. I would recommend having one to any couple planning their wedding.
Since their private vows were done the ceremony was short and sweet to get on to spending time with the smaller amount of guests they invited. Everything felt magical including that sunset I craved for this couple since their engagement session was cloudy.
