Arnold Arboretum Elopement

Liz and John had their wedding planned for Costa Rica, and they were beyond excited! When they found out a grandparent couldn’t travel that changed a few things for them. They still planned their destination wedding, but decided to elope at home so grandma could be fully present for them.

Arnold Arboretum is an easily accessible open to the public park just outside of Boston. It had specific meaning for Liz and John, as they live nearby and walk their dog in the park almost every single day. They couldn’t imagine a more perfect place that was both accessible and fed their love of nature.

Liz and John shared a quick first look before their vows on top of Peters Hill which stands tall over the park with a beautiful view of the Boston skyline in the distance. The small group of their immediate families gathered for a short, but very emotional ceremony. After lots of fun portraits in the forest we walked together to one of Liz & John’s favorite little neighborhood restaurants for appetizers, toasts, and Liz even did a costume change into a more casual dress than her beautiful bridal gown.

How to Get Married at Arnold Arboretum

It’s easy to get married in Arnold Arboretum as there is no additional cost and no permit necessary. The only thing you need to do is give the Arboretum a quick call or email to be sure that it is okay to get married in a specific spot in the park on the day you are planning just in case they have another event happening.

Following the rules of Leave No Trace is also important as this park is open to the public 7 days a week, they cannot guarantee privacy for you. Even on a peak Saturday in the fall we still managed to find lots of quiet spots on the expansive property.

You can have up to 40 people present at your intimate wedding or elopement at Arnold Arboretum. That maximum group size includes you and all of your vendors (photography, video, officiant…). While this is a free ceremony venue, please remember that Arnold Arboretum is a non-profit and donations are always welcome!

If you’re planning your Arnold Arboretum micro wedding or elopement feel free to reach out! I know the park like the back of my hand and would love to capture your day!
